Learning together is an important aspect of Reception curriculum.
In the autumn term, homework activities in Reception are Literacy based with a strong emphasis on learning phonics.
Each Friday the children will be given a sound sheet with four sounds covered during the week. These should be stuck into their Sound Books (provided by the school) and practised regularly together with the actions.
Children will bring books home to read with an adult. Children should be encouraged to point to each letter in the word, sound it out and try and put all the sounds together to decode the word. Discussing the story and the characters and asking questions about the book will help with the children’s understanding of language. Books will be changed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
